Our Journey in school year 2023-24

  

  STEM Related Project Engagement


  • Participated in ‘Make a Thon’ organized by ‘College of Lake county’.
  • Competed in ‘2024 Lake County Robotics Computation’ hosted by ‘College of Lake County’.
  • Attended ‘Robotics regionals computation’ at AJHS.
  • Engaged in  ‘11th Annual STEM for Girls conference’ hosted by ‘College of Lake County’.
  • Attended ‘Science Olympiad Regionals’ at ‘Collage of Lake County’.
  • Club  was a part of ‘Aerospace Engineering’ workshop by STEM.E
  • Hosted and participated in 'Math workshop' by ‘Bhanzu’.
  • Joined 'App development workshop' hosted by ‘Shooting Stars’.
  • Club members Prepared models related to 'Earth Science' and presented to community.


 STEM Related Field Trips


  • Engaged in 'Public Safety field trip' with ‘Buffalo Grove Park District’.
  •  Experienced 'Technology learning field trip' at ‘Northwest Central Dispatch Center’.
  •  Enjoyed ‘Waste Management’ field trip to understand how STEM supports day to day operations at WM. 
  • Visited ‘Buffalo Grove Village Hall’ and understand how they are integrated with STEM.  


Improving Presentation Skills  


  •  Our dedicated STEM club members had the opportunity to showcase their research and models related to 'Earth Science' and shared the knowledge with community at ‘Buffalo Grove Earth Day Celebrations’.
  • Our dedicated STEM club members organized Pill Bottle Drive in our community.  Our initiative aimed to reduce waste, promote recycling, and support medical needs in under-resourced areas.  
  • Club hosted multiple free 'Knowledge Sharing Workshops' for Community related to STEM topics, to enrich STEM education in our community.

Building Professional Profiles for club members


  • As a club, members will work on creating their professional profiles. This can help them showcase their skills, achievements, and projects to collaborators and academic institutions. 
  •  Club members will research and complete STEM-related certificates that can boost their skills, knowledge, and employability in various STEM fields. 
  • Club together will learn about effective networking skills and opportunities to build valuable professional connections, enhancing their career prospects and knowledge exchange. 


Intern Projects for club Members  


  • Gain insight into the specific fields and interests of STEM club members to tailor activities, projects, and resources that align with their passions and career goals. 
  •  Club members to research on valuable internship projects that enhance their skills, offer real-world experience, and contribute to their career development. 


Educate on Scholarship Programs  

 

  • Gain clear understanding of scholarship programs, including how they work, how to find them, and how to apply effectively.
  • Analyze the programs to implement for our club to make our members as strong candidates for scholarship opportunities.   


Project and Program Management Skills  


  • Each club member to take the opportunity to enrich there leadership skills by participating in a leadership role.
  • Will have 4 different committees representing all 4 focus areas. As presented in our Org Chart.
  • Each club member to lead one focus element under one of the 4 Committees and work on adding value to that focus element, committee and the club.
  • This will provide opportunity to each club member to become more effective and successful in assigned project and program.
  • As a club together, club members will get an understanding of Portfolio Management.

Our Journey in school year 2023-24

      

Host Guest Speaker Sessions for Community 

  

  • Hosted multiple free  guest speaker sessions for community related to STEM topics.
  •  Organized guest talk on ‘ How to plan your day effectively as a middle schooler’ and ‘Artificial Intelligence’.  
  • Hosted multiple STEM Related presentation for community and Field Trips for club members.


Facilitate workshops for Community

  

  • Hosted different interactive workshops for community for free, to provide hands-on and real-time experience for participants.
  • Conducted Math Workshop and computation for community to participate for free. 
  •  Organized 'Interactive talk time workshop' with community about the technology helping with their day to day planning.  

  

Share knowledge with Community 

  

  • Our club members utilized every opportunity to share/ present their knowledge with community to empower and enrich STEM education. 
  • Hosted Knowledge sharing session to community and presented on ‘How STEM helps the world’. 
  • Held Knowledge sharing session to community on ‘Sustainability' along with interactive games.
  • Shared information regarding ‘Monarch Butterflies and importance of Milkweed’ at ‘11th Annual STEM for Girls Conference’ hosted by ‘College of Lake County’. 
  • Hosted Information tables at ‘Buffalo Grove Earth Day Celebrations’ hosted by 'Buffalo Grove Park District' and shared knowledge related to Earth Science.

Peer Preparation with Community

  

  • Find opportunities, collaborate with 3rd parties and host online STEM related workshops for community.
  • Club members to take a specific topic and share their knowledge with their pears in community.
  • Club to gain knowledge related to different STEM related computations and share that insight and participation process with community. 

  

Participate in Community Events


  • Collaborate with local organizations, groups and departments to support them at their events.
  • Participate in the community events and contribute towards success of those events.
  • Analyze and propose new community events to local facilities and organizations to consider hosting them for our community. 

  

Identify Individuals from community and recognize 


  • Identify individuals from community who is well accomplished. 
  • Recognize accomplished individuals and set a positive example for their peers.
  • Inspire students from our community to set high goals, work hard and pursue their own passion. 

Focus Area: Service Orientation

Our Journey in school year 2023-24

        

Participate in Service Projects 

    

  • Our club got some great opportunities to serve the need by collaborating with different organizations.
  • Club participated in ‘Shop & Share’ sponsored by ‘Gratitude Generation’ to buy groceries and share with the families in need.
  • Visited ‘Sue’s Pantry’ to understand the need and the commitment from individuals to serve the need. 
  • Participated and helped at the ‘Easter Service project’ by ‘Kingswood Church’ with cookie project. 
  • Helped ‘Gratitude Generation’ with multiple service projects.  

  

Plan and implement Service Programs

    

  • ‘Pill Bottle Drive’ was initiated in early 2024 and it was a successful program. Currently this program is ongoing.  The objective of this initiative is to collect and repurpose used pill bottles to support community health initiatives, reduce waste, and promote environmental sustainability. 

  

Become Kindness Ambassador 

    

  • This allows our club members to participate in random acts of kindness activities to perform small act of kindness and generosity. 
  • Club hosted ‘Chalk Art…Colorful Gratitude’ event where our club members gathered and filled the side walks of all D102 schools with meaningful messages to show the gratitude towards all teachers and staff.

Research on World’s Needs

    

  • Club members to recognize different challenges and issues that affect individuals, communities, and the planet as a whole. 
  • Prepare and present their research related to a particular issue with community to educate more individuals.  

  

Spread the Spirit


  • Inspire others to join the spirit of service and volunteerism by organizing service projects and invite community to join and support.

Raise the Funds 

      

  • Between Jan 1st and May 10th2024, club raised total $1256.

    

Donate to Support a Cause    

  

  • Between Jan 1st and May 10th2024, our club donated total $1000.
  • Donated $200 to ‘Buffalo Grove Park District’ to utilize towards ‘Nature Classroom’. 
  • Donated $200 to ‘D102 Parent Teacher Organization’ to spend towards hosting ‘Career Day’ at AJHS. 
  • Donated $200 to ‘College of Lake County’ to spent towards ‘2025 Lake County Robotics Challenge’. 
  • Donating $200 to ‘Buffalo Grove Environmental Action Team’ to utilize towards addressing environmental issues. 
  • Donated $200 to 'Buffalo Grove Police Department' to use towards ‘Junior Police Academy Program’.

Understanding non-profit organizations 

      

  • Club members to recognize the value and importance of non-profits in our community.
  • Analyze ways to collaborate with those organizations to contribute our part.
  • Become more engage, informed, and empowered agents of positive social change.

  

Maximizing Impact


  • Club to research on implementing cost-effective programs and solutions to understand how non-profits can maximize their impact.
  • Share club's thoughts and research with local non-profits to propose our club's interest in collaborating further to maximize the impact. 


Set an example  


  • Raise awareness by promoting non-profits.
  • Take actions to motivate friends and family members to contribute to causes they care about, creating a ripple effect of positive change.
